Brian has become somewhat of a legend (in his own mind) for his witty and informative legal updates. He writes the updates for his officers in High Point, North Carolina, so some of the information will be specific to them, but officers throughout the state should also find these updates helpful. I have to give you two very important warnings, however:
1. The materials on this website are instructional only, and do not constitute legal advice or create an attorney-client relationship.
2. ALWAYS CHECK WITH YOUR AGENCY’S LEGAL ADVISER when you have a legal question. There are some fantastic police attorneys, sheriff’s attorneys, city attorneys, and county attorneys in North Carolina. They are not always going to agree with the legal conclusions I reach in these legal updates. If something blows up and you go to them and tell them you did something because Brian Beasley told you to, they are going to (1) ask who the crap you are talking about, and (2) get mad at me in addition to being mad at you. Trust me – I got enough people mad at me already. If you have a legal issue, check with your agency’s legal adviser and follow their advice.
